Description
The Wiota Street Garden sits on a quarter-acre plot at the corner of Wiota Street and Powelton Avenue in the West Powelton neighborhood of Philadelphia.
Founded in 1984 by local real estate developer John Lindsay, the garden is a vital asset to this section of West Philadelphia. Each Sunday from Memorial Day through the end of September, the garden’s weekly farm stand provides neighbors with a source for handpicked vegetables at affordable prices in one of the city’s most barren food deserts.
